I had added some of this as a comment to a previous post, but thought that it merited more attention.

The latest issue of National Geographic has included an article about evolution. The cover of the magazine is emblazoned with the question, “Was Darwin Wrong? And, of course, the first page of the actual article is a giant-sized, “No."

Of particular interest on the National Geographic page is the little “Did you know?” section near the bottom. It talks about where Darwin was buried. It’s pretty interesting, and led me to wonder what the times were like when Darwin thought up his most familiar work, The Origin of the Species.

It turns out that Darwin was influenced by the writings of Adam Smith, who is a philosopher familiar to me, and the father of modern economy. That’s interesting to note. (I have to admit to a certain enamoration of philosophy.) You may wish to check out a short version of Darwin’s biography.

Anyway, it’s good to see a well-respected magazine do something so blatent, finally explaining evolution in such a way that to disbelieve it, you must virtually disbelieve science as a whole.
