Musical Doom

I downloaded a ton of Christmas music today. I’ve been on a search for Christmas music that is not your standard Bing Crosby/Frank Sinatra fare, something produced by good modern rock musicians.

Berta and I were at the mall one Christmas and had stopped in the Guess store (in which we bought her a slinky dress… I wonder what closet that’s in…) and they had the best Christmas music ever. Probably piped in by satellite, it was performed by people who you would hear on the regular radio at the time, not the classic oldies. It was great.

Owen, the unfriendly WordPress plugin dev

Yeah… I’m mostly a friendly guy on the net, but certain things set me off. Like this Mez person sending me three emails about a plugin saying, “I couldn’t get it to work. It doesn’t do what I want. Tell me where I can get something that does where I want. Now!” And then I bother to write back a kind reply saying basically, “Look in the config file and set the options to your liking,” and Presto! It works just as expected.

But then I come to the support forum a day later and find another flipping post from that person, asking about that same specific plugin issue again (posted before I answered the question). Do people not get that I don’t sit in front of the monitor waiting to answer their questions? It’s crazy.

How Much Did I Type Today?

I used to have this keyboard odometer thing installed, but it never worked quite right. I’d forget to reset it each morning, so I wouldn’t get a clear count of daily keypresses.

Anyhow, I just totalled up the character count on the three new wiki pages I added today. Just the new pages, not the changes to the old pages, and not the code that I wrote that was the impetus for these changes. The total doesn’t count the email between writing or any of the work I did on Wish List Live.
